Romero’s Supplement Caused FALSE Positive
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer this morning, Provient, the company that makes the supplement JC Romero was taking, revealed that their product contains NO illegal or banned substances. It does have an ingredient that may cause a FALSE positive result though. Therefore, Romero is totally innocent. There was no warning on the label, he had the supplement approved by both a trainer and the Players Association, and now, the company that makes 6-Oxo Extreme has admitted to the fault. Provient even submitted the information to MLB but they still stand by the 50 game suspension and refuse to budge. You can read the full article HERE. This is truly sickening.
I agree that MLB needs to stand strong behind their drug policy, but when they are wrong, they need to admit they are wrong. In the real world, mistakes are made every day. MLB has a chance to correct this one and do the right thing, but still they choose to be stubborn for fear of looking weak. So now they just look like a bunch of ignorant, uneducated fools instead. I believe JC should sue to both get the bogus suspension lifted and for tainting his reputation and hurting his family and teammates. With the arbitrator previously ruling against him, I do not know what his options are at this point, but someone really needs to stand up for him.
