And It’s Still Raining…

Welcome to October on the East Coast!  Thanks to Mother Nature, the Phillies – Rays game 5 continuation has been postponed once more.

As of this moment, they are tentatively scheduled to play on Wednesday, 10/29 at 8:37pm.  And of course, we must preface that with, “weather permitting.”  Bud Selig has made a royal mess out of this, giving the Rays unfair advantage – they get a clean field and good weather for the 6th inning, unlike the Phillies’ Cole Hamels, who had to pitch in a downpour for the 6th, giving up the tying run as a result.  Anyone think Selig is still holding a grudge over us beating the pants of his Brewers?  He should have called the game after the 5th.  He intended to have the game continued for the full 9 innings, regardless of the score anyway, so NOT stopping it in the 5th with the 2-1 Phillies lead was inexcusable.  The conditions were horrid.

Hamels can still win the game if the Phillies manage to score in the bottom of the 6th when play resumes.  But they are still having issues with runners on base.  Chase Utley came up with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 4th and grounded out to first.  And then with NO outs in the 5th and 2 men on, Shane Victorino flied out, Pedro Feliz popped out and Carlos Ruiz followed suit.  So far in Game 5, they have left 9 runners on base and only recorded 4 hits.  They will need to step it up, like they did in game 4, if they are going to win and close this thing out at home.  And so we wait…Philadelphia fans are known for their patience J
