Moyer Gone Fishing
How much does Jamie Moyer LOVE facing the Marlins? SO much that he has only lost to them one time in his career. And tonight, he enjoyed his fishing trip again. Moyer gave up only 1 earned run on 6 hits in 6 innings pitched. I am betting the Marlins shake in their boots every time they see Moyer on the mound. Who was not so scary tonight was Chad Durbin. He looked a bit tired and wound up surrendering 2 hits and 1 earned run in only 1/3 of an inning. That moved the Marlins into a good position to possibly tie up the game, being down by only a run.
The Marlins fans were just starting to get into the game at that point when, in the 8th inning, Shane Victorino singled and Pedro Feliz followed with a home run. After that, it was so quiet in the stadium that you could hear a pin drop. The rest of the Phillies bullpen went on to shut them down. Brad Lidge continues to be a save machine and moved his total up to 40 for the year.
Greg Dobbs made a great diving stop at third base tonight but came up limping and was removed from the game. Feliz took over, which turned out to be a good thing as he proceeded to hit the previously mentioned home run. No word on Dobbs yet except it appeared to be an ankle injury. I hope he is ok! J Waiting for an official update at this point…
Here are some more photos from tonight’s game…1st row: Jimmy Rollins is almost picked off at first base; Pedro Feliz practices how to field like a midget. 2nd row: Jayson Werth has a very busy night in the outfield.
With the Mets loss tonight, the Phillies are in first place by 1 ½ games and need only 3 more wins to guarantee a playoff spot. The hunt continues tomorrow as the Phils travel back home to face the Braves again for 3 game. JA Happ gets the start tomorrow at 7:05pm. Go Phillies!
